I have a www.bookbub.com profile. I’ve had it for years, at least three. I think I wanted to be a book reviewer or blogger. From my profile, I reviewed and commented on almost every book I read. I did the same on www.Goodreads.com.
Ratings ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ and written reviews are important for a few reasons. One, the number of ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ a book has may help a future reader decide to read that book. I have selected books based on the comments and ratings. Two, good reviews with encouraging feedback will help the author know what they need to improve on or add to.
Reviews that dog out the book is un-necessary. No author expects everyone to like their work.
HOWEVER, appreciate the author’s dedication to finishing a 50000-word or less story!! Trust me, it’s hard.
